Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare proper documentation for all shipments and receipts as required (bill of lading, scale ticket, receiver, etc.)

  • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and load balance as well as load stability during shipment.

  • Inspect inbound material quality and notify supervisor of non-conformances.

  • Compile records, maintain inventory control, BOLs and all associated paperwork related to shipments.

  • Notify appropriate personnel of items received.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned. 

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.

  • One (1) year of job-related experience is preferred to perform at this level.

  • Ability to operate a forklift to move product and supplies in a safe and orderly manner in a manufacturing warehouse environment with pedestrian traffic without posing a significant risk of harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Experience working with an external customer (clients, drivers, vendors, etc.)

  • Ability to function with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull 10 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis required.

  • Ability to wear a hard hat, steel-toed shoes and other PPE required.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, squat, climb a ladder, bend, climb and reach on a regular basis is required.

  • Prior experience with FTL, LTL, Parcel (FedEx/UPS) shipping a plus.

  • Prior Logistics/Transportation customer service experience a plus.

  • PC proficiency required, especially Windows-based programs such as Microsoft Office Suite. WMS and ERP experience a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and communication skills.
