Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities:  
  1. Track and monitor process controls and make recommendations to operations (50%)

Track and monitor our operational characteristics of temperature, pressure, product quality. Collect the data and perform in-depth analysis. Recommend changes to control and improve our operations. Work with a cross-functional team to project manage and problem-solve any operational issues that affect our ability to hit commercial quality targets.


  1. Collect statistics and other data analysis (25%). 

Set protocols and develop processes for machine settings on our operations equipment. 

Track, monitor, collect and analyze our software and other operations instrumentation data. Work with operations staff to set new protocols and design and develop new processes and machine settings that improve the quality of our output. 


  1. Material analysis (25%). 

Collect data on our material behavior, analyze the chemistry and recommend changes to our operations. Perform regular material analysis to understand our material behavior. Recommend operational changes to benefit our manufacturing efficiency and quality  

Skills and experience:
  1. Demonstrated experience in manufacturing process improvement.

  2. Experience in the design of experiments and design for manufacturability.

  3. Very knowledgeable of industry standards 

  4. Subject matter expert in our manufacturing processes. Minimum 3 years of process engineering experience in a plastic processing/conversion organization

  5. Solid experience identifying and troubleshooting production problems and taking preventative or correction action. 

  6. Strong project management skills with the ability to document sound processes.

  7. Highly skilled at software collection and data analysis

  8. Strong material science background

  9. Broad experience of injection molding, extrusion and thermoforming engineering processes and material behavior. Experience with decontamination and wash-line equipment. 

  10. The ability to take complex engineering data and recommendations and translate into easy-to-understand process controls and instructions for the operations staff.

  11. Team player, strong collaboration skills, ability to build relationships at all levels 

  1. 4-year, university degree in Engineering or Chemistry. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering degree preferred. 

Language Skills:
  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.

  2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  3. Ability to speak effectively to managers or employees at all levels in the organization.

Physical Effort Requirements:

Work Environment: Office & manufacturing environment where the noise level is generally quiet to moderately noisy.

Weight Requirements: Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 40 pounds.

Body Movements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to stand, sit, and move about facility for long periods of time. Ability to use hands and fingers.

Work Position: Combination of sitting, standing, and walking around.

Sensory Requirements: Vision, speech, hearing, smell and touch are routinely used in day to day functions.
