Key Responsibilities:
  • Will be responsible for operating PET Sheet Extrusion, PET Injection Molding, and PET Thermoforming equipment.

  • Perform startup, shutdown, material changeovers and normal operating procedures for assigned machines and conveyor systems with minimal supervision.

  • Perform and track material inventory and production information by inputting required information in HMI interfaces and/or manual documents. Adjust operating conditions and parameters for the equipment based on feedback from an HMI terminal and observation.

  • Coordinate inventory levels of all productions supplies with the Shift Lead such as bags, boxes, liners, skids, chemicals, etc.

  • Identify equipment and personnel safety issues; coordinate with Shift Lead to resolve. Aid in the safety and operations training of new employees.

  • Maintain compliance with company and OSHA policy in regards to operations and safety issues, including but not limited to: lockout/tagout procedures, forklift operation, proper use of PPE, and sharps discovery and handling.

  • Must clearly understand and perform all procedures and equipment per training and must attend all required training sessions (including safety training)

  • Move material in a timely, efficient manner with forklifts utilizing multiple attachments

  • Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device. Accurately weigh containers, label correctly, and store in the proper location.

  • Communication required with employees in all departments and functional areas

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization on the line/surrounding area (including outside)

  • Must be attentive to potential contamination issues and handle issues appropriately

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years’ prior work experience in a related machine operator position (sheet extrusion, injection molding, or thermoforming). Previous experience with machine maintenance a plus.

  • Practical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems and programmable controls required.

  • Demonstrated safe work habits and extensive knowledge of workplace safety is required.

  • Ability to read complex drawings and perform simple mathematics is required, HS Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

  • Ability to work quickly, especially during busy periods and maintain area.

  • Ability to work 12 hours per day, 3-4 days per week (7 a.m. - 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.)

  • Ability to lift, push, pull 10 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.

  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator, hard hat, steel-toed shoes and other PPE required.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, squat, climb a ladder, bend, climb and reach on a regular basis is required.

  • Previous experience driving forklifts and utilizing material handling equipment preferred.

  • PC proficiency a plus, especially Windows-based programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and communication skills.

  • Possess knowledge to differentiate products, keep current with material types, and knowledge of line material flow.
